Laurel is originally from the Finger Lakes region of New York, however, she grew up internationally in both Okinawa, Japan and Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. Laurel started running, writing and being a vegetarian all about the same time during her early teenage years and those habits have stuck. She’s raced every distance from the mile to 100k and focuses now mostly on ultra trail running.

Laurel currently lives in Boise, Idaho with her children, Zeffrey and Columbus and an assortment of pets. If you ever can’t find Laurel, she’s probably out on a trail somewhere in the vicinity of Boise and its foothills. It’s likely she’s off by herself, somewhere remote, without gear or water, enjoying all the beauty that nature has to offer. She’s probably lost track of time and will be brought back to reality when she realizes that she hasn’t had water for three hours.
